The Osun State Government has approved Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, as the new Ooni of Ife.
The Governor of State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement Monday, in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Alhaji Moshood Adeoti.
The statement which was dated October 24, 2015 and made available to the newsmen 02:45am Monday, states:” The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola has approved the appointment of a new Ooni. “He is Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi of Giesi Ruling House, Ile Ife, Osun State.
It added: “This choice follows the completion of the due process by the kingmakers and the communication of their decision to the government.”
The announcement followed the quashing of the suit filed by Lafogido Ruling House against the Ife Chieftaincy Declaration of 1980. In the same vein, the Ife kingmakers relied on the 1980 declaration to prune down the selection process to Giesi Ruling House, hence last Friday court ruling which favored their position.
Still, another contending ruling house, the Osinkola family had vowed it would pursue its grievance over the choice of Giesi royal house for Ooni stool, to the Supreme Court.
It would be recalled the immediate past paramount ruler of the ancient Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade passed on, July 28, 2015 having fallen ill, in a London hospital.
