Appointment of Abba As New IGP is in Acting Capacity –Presidency Clarifies
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Friday, August 1st, 2014The presidency says the appointment of the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba is in acting capacity.
The president’s spokesperson Dr. Reuben Abati stated this in a statement issued to clarify his earlier press release titled “Jonathan Appoints New Inspector-General Of Police.”
The new statement reads:
“The statement earlier released announcing President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s approval of the appointment of a new Inspector-General of Police refers.
“Please note that AIG Suleiman Abba’s appointment as Inspector-General of Police is in acting capacity.
“The appointment is with effect from Friday, August 1, 2014.”
AIG Abba has served in several capacities among of which was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Rivers State, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of State CID, FCT Police Command and ADC to Mrs. Maryam Abacha during her husband, General Sani Abacha’s Military junta.
