APC Senators Shun Plenary As Ekweremadu Presides

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Some of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators, led by Ahmed Lawan and George Akume Wednesday walked out of the red chamber, in protest against the decision of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to allow his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu to preside over the day’s plenary.
Saraki’s resolve to designate Ekweremadu who is of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to preside the plenary, was informed by his participation in President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration and swearing-in of the new Ministers, which held today at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
After storming out of the upper chamber, Senator Lawan and three of his colleagues met briefly and after, left for their various offices.
