Following the footsteps of their National Leader Bola Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress, APC has rejected the planned National Conference saying there was no need for any conference at this time.
Speaking after their meeting on Tuesday, the spokesperson of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said, “At this point in time, this government lacks the credibility to organise a real meaningful national conference.”
Mohammed further stressed that the opposition see the conference as “nothing but a diversion.” stating that what the government wants to do is not a national conference but a constitution amendment since the president said the outcome of the conference will be sent to the national assembly for ratification.
Hear him “Why are we talking about a national conference when even the President himself has said that the outcome of that conference will be subjected to the approval of the National Assembly? What they have today is a constitutional amendment not a national conference and we will not be a party to it. We believe it is diversionary and not sincere.”
