APC, PDP Stage Protest in Port Harcourt Over Rivers Guber Rerun
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Saturday, March 30th, 2019(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The crisis that is likely to occur during the coming collation of results and rerun of the Rivers State Governorship poll played out Friday as protesters, believed to be supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were dispersed with tear gas by a team of police operatives.
The security operatives reportedly stormed the Polo Club area of Port Harcourt, the State capital where the supporters of the two parties had gathered.
Reports said the PDP supporters were angry that their APC counterparts disregarded the no-protest directive of Governor Nyesom Wike and planned to move to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Electoral body has announced that the collation of the Governorship poll would resume next month, as well as supplementary poll where the exercise could not hold Saturday 23, 2019 due to violence.
