Barely 48 hours after a police inspector attached to the Aba Central police Station CPS shot himself to death in the Abia commercial city, another inspector, identified as Samuel Amaefula, serving at the Osisioma Police Station in the area on wednesday slumped and died.
African Examiner reports that Inspector Amaefule, who was hale and hearty, slumped while urinating within the premises of the police station and later died despite attempts by his colleagues to revive him.
A source close to the station told our correspondent that, “he was urinating somewhere at a corner of the station and before you knew it, he slumped. People who were around quickly rushed to pick him up, but before any help could come, he had died.”
It was not established if the deceased police officer had been suffering from any ailment before the ugly incident occurred.
However, the sources said “Amaefule might have suffered heart attack.
The state Police Public Relations officer, PPRO Geoffrey Ogbonna, could not be reached for his reaction.
But a senior police officer serving in the station, who does not want to be quoted in the print confirmed the incident, describing as “quite unfortunate and painful”.
Meanwhile, following the sad event, African Examiner gathered that the state police command is now proposing a compulsory routine Medical check up for its senior and junior officers.
