Another 13 People Killed, 5 Injured in Plateau Village Attack

The killing of innocent civilians in the hinterlands of Plateau State has continued unabated as 13 people were reportedly killed and 5 others injured in another early morning attack on Thursday by unknown gunmen.
African Examiner gathered that the attackers stormed Rapyem Village in Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government of the State at about 1am shooting sporadically, which led to the death of 13 people and 5 others injured, mostly women and children.
Confirming the incident to African Examiner, the Interim Administrator of Barkin Ladi Local Government, Mr. Habila Dung, said the attack took place in the wee hours of Thursday.
He described the attack as “sad and barbaric”, adding that 13 persons were killed, among them were nine children, two women, two men and 5 were injured and currently receiving treatment in hospital.
When contacted, the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Felicia Anselem, confirmed that there was an attack at Rapyem Village in Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government. She said the Police are working on the casualty figure, but maintained that normalcy has since returned to the community.
The Police Spokesperson called on the citizenry in Barkin Ladi local government and the State as a whole to go about their normal business as security agencies are on top of the situation.
