(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Anambra state has accused the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and All Progressives Congress APC, agents of compromising eligible electorates in the state with monetary inducements.
It alleged that the two parties were bribing voters between N2000 and N2, 500 each to sway their voting choice.
However, luck ran out of one of the alleged APGA vote buyer, as he was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS, for attempting to pay voters in one of the polling units in Anambra South senatorial district.
There was a scene at the political ward of the candidate of APC, Dr. Tony Nwoye when a middle aged man suspected to be working for APGA made an attempt but resulted to violence, yet, security operatives at the polling unit quickly brought the situation under control and voting continued.
Our Correspondent reports that the card readers functioned without hitch, just as most polling units in Aguleri in Anambra East zone witnessed large turnout of voters.
