The New Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Willie Obiano, has been formally sworn- in for a 4-year tenure in office, even as he extends olive branch to all his opponents who contested the election with him.

Obiano, and his Deputy, Nkem Okeke, were elected last November, 2013 in a controversial election under the platform of crisis- ridden All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA.

Addressing a mammoth crowd Monday at the Alex Ekwueme square Awka, venue for the inauguration, the Governor, who took his oath office and allegiance at about few minutes past 3pm, said his administration is going to consolidate on the infrasturctural development of his predecessor, Mr. Peter Obi.

The Banker turned politician, whose oath office was administered by the state chief judge, Justice Peter Umeadi, assured the people of the state of human oriented policies and programme.

He said his administration will be anchored on what he tagged “4 pillars of Anambra wheel of development”, which will focus in the area of Agriculture, Oil and Gas, Trade and commerce as well as industrialization.

According to him, “my administration, will also strive towards setting up a refinery in the state within my first one year in office”

Obiano, also promised to put in place ultral modern independent power plants in Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka, adding that such facility will no doubt go a long way in boosting the state economy.

He therefore, called on his opponents at the gubernatorial poll, such as senator Chris Ngige of All progress congress (APC), Tony Nwoye, of the peoples Democratic party (PDP), Ifeanyi Ubah of Labour party (LP), among others to join hands with him in moving the state forward.

Apart from home based Anambarians, the Governor, also use the forum to appeal to indigenes of the state in the Diaspora, to come and invest, assuring that his government will provide all the needed conducive business atmosphere.

The brand new Governor also, advised politicians in Nigeria including those of Anambra state, to learn how to put collective interest above their personal interest in all they do.

In his valedictory speech, out gone Governor of the state, Mr Obi, had thanked the people for their unflinching support for his administration throughout the eight years he piloted affairs of the state.

Obi, whom African Examiner’s finding revealed will soon be joining the Nigerian’s federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja had equally, promised the new Governor and people of the state that he would not interfere in the affairs of the baby administration, despite the fact that Obiano is his anointed candidate.

Obi noted “today is the first time since the history of Anambra state, when an outgoing Governor, is handing over to an incoming Governor.”

The event was graced by dignitaries from across the globe, including chairman, south east Governors forum, and Abia state Governor, Thoedore Orji, as well as president Goodluck Jonathan, represented by his Special Adviser (SPA) on inter party Affairs, senator Ben Obi, who is also from Anambra state.
