Anambra House Of Assembly Confirms Soludo’s 20 Commissioner-Nominees
Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Friday, April 8th, 2022(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed all the 20 Commissioner-nominees sent to it by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo last week.
African Examiner reports that their confirmation followed the adoption of the report of the Assembly screening committee during Thursday plenary which was attended by virtually all the legislators
The committee chairman, Hon. Dr. Paschal Agbodike, while presenting the report to his colleagues at the hallowed Chamber if the house yesterday said that the 20 commissioner-nominees met the requirements needed to be members of the State Executive Council of the state.
Some of the lawmakers who spoke were, Hon. Emeka Aforka, representing APGA-Orumba North State constituency, urged his colleagues to allow the Governor’s nominees scale through.
Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Victor Okafor, who confirmed the nominees via voice vote, had advised them to see themselves as agents of positive change in the state.
He also charged them to support the governor Soludo, led administration in implementing its policies and programmes with a view to uplifting the living condition of citizens of the state.
He equally informed his colleagues that the Governor had sent another letter requesting the screening of another Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Silvester Ezeakenwa, for subsequent confirmation.
The incoming Commissioners are, Mr Ifeatu Chinedu (Finance), Prof. Ofonze Amucheazi (Lands) Mr Ifeanyi Okoma (Works), Ms Chiamaka Nnake (Budget) Dr Afam Obidike (Health), Mr Patrick Agha-mba (Youth Development), Mrs Ifeyinwa Obinabo (Women/Children Affairs), Dr Obinna Ugonnadi, Mr Julius Chukwuemeka (Power/Water Resources), and Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh (Education).
Also confirmed includes, Mr Paul Nwosu (Information), Dr Foster Ihejiofor (Agriculture), Mrs Patricia Igwebuike (Transport), Mr Felix Odimegwu (Environment), Mr. Chikodi Anara (Home Land Affairs), Prof. Chika Ifemeje (Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice), Mr Collins Nwabunwanne (Local Government Affairs), Mr Donatus Onyeji (Culture/Entertainment), Mr. Anthony Ifeanya (Petroleum) and Mr Paulinus Onyeaka (Housing).
