Anambra Guber: Tension in Anambra as Police Recover Two Bombs in Onitsha

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Tension has enveloped Anambra state, South East Nigeria, as the police on Friday recovered two high caliber improvised explosive devices (IED’s) near the Onitsha North Police Station.
The disaster which could have wrecked havoc in the commercial city was discovered few hours to the governorship election scheduled to hold on Saturday .
Our Correspondent gathered that a distress call was put across to men of the Nigerian Police Anti-bomb squad who swiftly responded and cordoned off the entire vicinity.
The policemen, under the Supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Joshak Habila demobilised and evacuated the IEDs.
African Examiner reports that the incident which occurred in the afternoon has heightened tension in parts of the state, and may likely affect the turnout of voters in tomorrow’s poll.
