On allegation of running a ‘kitchen cabinet’, a Special Adviser (SA) to the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Mrs Abimbola Lanre – Balogun has defected from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mrs Lanre – Balogun, a former SA on Environment formally declared yesterday at a Political Centre in Ijebu-Igbo, during a PDP stakeholders meeting. Reason for her decision was due to Governor Amosun’s authoritative and family style of running state government.
The former cabinet member who resigned last week disclosed to journalists after her formal declaration that her interest in working with people informed her decision, complaining that the present administration in the state had underutilized her.
She added that efforts by her to find out from the Governor if she had in any way offended him to have warranted such treatment, but told by Amosun she committed no offence, but only told to just remain in the office.
Since she is not used to such way of life, Mrs Lanre- Balogun indicated she had to make up her mind and step aside. She added her defection would create exodus in Obafemi Owode Local Council of the state as she claimed other APC starlwarts in the area would soon join her in the new party.
The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Yusuf Olaniyonu stated the state government would soon issue a statement on the exit of the former Governor’s aide.
