Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has challenged Nigerian women to be at the forefront of efforts to change the negative situations in the country.
Amosun gave the charge in Lagos on Monday at the opening ceremony of this year’s National Women Conference, organized by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO).
Senator Amosun stated that the theme of the conference, “Embracing and Managing Change” was very apt considering the current challenges facing the country.
Advising the women to take their role as nation builders to heart, the Governor noted that women were in the best position to raise and mentor credible leaders that would effect the much desired change in the country.
Commending COWLSO for its various interventions cutting across education, health and youth empowerment, Senator Amosun also wanted all political office holders and others in leadership positions to evaluate the impact of their activities on the country.
Speaking, Governor Babatunde Fashola renewed his administration’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for women in the state to thrive in all their endeavours.
COWLSO chairperson, Dame Abimbola Fashola said the organization would continue to sustain its live changing projects for the youths, the less privileged and the elderly in the state.
About 200 women from all walks of life are participating in the three days conference.
