Amaechi Didn’t Arrest, Manhandle Policeman –Rivers Police

The Rivers state police command has denied a story going viral on the social media that the minister of transportation on March 12, 2016 arrested and manhandled a policeman along Port Harcourt-Omagwa road.
A statement issued by the Rivers Police PRO, DSP Ahmad Muhammad and sent to African Examiner said the story was false and asked members of the public to ignore it.
The statement reads in full:
“RE-ARREST OF POLICEMAN BY RT. HON. CHIBUIKE R. AMAECHI”
“The attention of Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to the news story going the rounds particularly in the social media to the effect that Rt. Hon. Chibuike R. Amaechi, the minister of transportation, has on 12/03/2014 along Port Harcourt-Omagwa road arrested and manhandled a policeman.
2. The Command initially decided to keep sealed lips but observed the untrue story continues to go viral and unabated.
3. Consequently, the Command wish to state categorically that the story is untrue and that did not happened. Members of the public are hereby enjoined to discountenance and ignore the story in its entirety, please.”
