Amaechi Again Charges Rivers Indigenes To Vote Out Jonathan
Featured, Latest Headlines Monday, December 22nd, 2014Collins Amadi – Port Harcourt – Governor Chibuke Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, has again called on indigenes of the State to troop out and collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2015 general elections.
Ameachi made the call Monday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital at the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA) Mainstream Coalition rally.
The Governor who spoke shortly after receiving into the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), new decampees from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the residents of the State must collect their PVCs to vote in the party’s Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and vote out the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.
He noted in his remarks that the Creator was just, hence always exposes the antics of the unjust leaders, saying the misfortunes of the State PDP and in the country was related to many of the past misgivings of its leaders and administration.
Governor Amaechi expressed disappointment in the desperate approach of the State PDP Governorship candidate, Nyeson Wike, for inability to express himself fluently, as a Lawyer and a learned fellow, yet described his prospective successor and APC Gubernatorial flagbearer, Hon. Dakuku Peterside as a bundle of knowledge and one with oratory prowess.
While receiving the decampees, the Rivers State Chief Executive invited them to the podium for proper identification and to check denial as well as avoid accusation of impersonation.
The new entrants into the State APC spoke one after the other and linked their exit from the PDP due to failure of the party leaders to honour the agreement reached at the formation of the Coalition.
The former PDP stalwarts indicated that the main objective of the Mainstream Coalition was “power rotation”, a consensus which they accused the State’s PDP leaders failed to comply with.
They all held that Governor Amaechi despite being accused of being heady, has successfully achieved what the PDP high hierarchy failed to achieve, by ensuring power was shifted from his clan – Ikwerre to another tribe in the State. They added that whatever sin the Governor might have committed or accused, has been forgiven for owing to the milestone achievement.
One of the decampees, Davis Saloka, alleged high handedness of the ruling party, as he claimed he was arrested and detained by the security operatives, in Abuja, when he visited the Party’s Headquarters to purchase nomination and interest form to contest his constituency in the State House of Assembly primary election.
Governor Amaechi who carpeted the PDP on allegation of using State money to fund Buhari’s campaign, charged the APC stalwarts in Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area to step up mobilization and ensure the Port Harcourt City stadium was fill to to capacity when the LG’s rally holds latest by January 2, 2015.
