Alma Mata Honours African Examiner Reporter
Latest Headlines, News Thursday, December 4th, 2014By Our Correspondent – The North Central Correspondent of African Examiner online, Oyewale Oyelola on Thursday received Award of Excellence in Journalism from his Alma Mata.
The Editorial Board of Mass Communication department of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree presented the award to Oyewale Oyelola and four others old students who are doing well on the field during this year annual editorial day.
Other recipient of the award are; Assistant Editor, Entertainment Express; Managing Editor, Newsverge online; Manager, Laito Production and outgoing Editor-in-Chief of NAMACOS Editorial Board, Folorunsho Oluwatobi.
The Head of Mass Communication Department, Mr Babatunde Isamuko in address said all the recipient deserved the award, adding they are the brand ambassadors of the department.
He urged students to be focus and embrace campus journalism, stating that campus journalism would serve as training ground and provide opportunity for students to develop their journalism skills.
Mr Oyelola described the award as reward for hard work, dedication and commitment to journalism practice in Nigeria.
According to him: “this award of excellence in journalism to me is a reward for hardwork, dedication and commitment to journalism practice in the country. I will like to appreciate the editorial board for this award.
“I will continue to do my best to practice journalism professionally by upholding ethics of the job.”
The Editor-in-chief of the board, Oluwatobi Folorunsho launched his book titled: A guide to Campus Journalism during the event.
