Alleged Death Over Unpaid Salaries Untrue, Misleading, It’s Handiwork Of Opposition, Says Bayelsa State Govt
Featured, Latest Headlines, News From The State Friday, October 2nd, 2015BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Bayelsa State Government has described as untrue, misleading and a calculated attempt by the All Progressives Congress, APC and its cronies to score cheap political points, the allegation that, the Government was responsible for the death of one Mr. Peter Ogiero.
The deceased was said to have committed suicide over an alleged unpaid salary.
A Government statement notes that, there is no iota of truth in the story, as Bayelsa is one of the few States in the country, that remains committed to the welfare of its workers, stressing that, it is on record that, the present administration was not owing workers.
It points out that, the state Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson on Friday, ordered the immediate payment of September salaries to the entire workforce, despite the dwindling allocation from the federation account.
The statement reads in part “Contrary to the reports, our findings show that, the deceased is not on the payroll of the State Government and neither did he commit suicide”.
A family source reveals that, the deceased was suffering from partial paralysis, which was responsible for his death.
