Akpabio Fires Two Commissioners

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio has sacked two commissioners from his cabinet.
This was contained in statement signed Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Aniekan Umanah on Thursday.
The affected are the Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Bassey Akpan and the Commissioner for Rural Development, Mr. Effiong Abia.
The statement reads in part, “The following commissioners have been relieved of their appointments: Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan, former Commissioner for Finance and Mr. Effiong Abia, former Commissioner for Rural Development.
“His Excellency has directed the affected commissioners to hand over to the permanent secretaries in the ministries.
“The governor, however, thanks the former commissioners for their contributions to the development of the state and wishes them success in their future endeavours.”
Feelers from Akwa Ibom government house reveals that the two commissioners were sacked in connection 2015 general elections.
