Akanu Ibiam International Airport, a dream comes through for S/east

The chairman senate committee on Aviation, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has hailed the federal government for realising the
dream of upgrading the Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu to an international status.
Senator Uzodinma, who represents Orlu senatorial district of Imo state in the upper chambers of the National Assembly, NASS
spoke to newsmen yesterday in Enugu against the backdrop of the first international Ethiopia Airline that is expected to land at
the Airport next week, August 24th precisely.
The lawmaker, who described the development as a dream come through for the entire south east people and environ, said
it would definitely” going to boost the economy of the zone”. He however, expressed optimism that in no distant time other
foreign airlines such Emirate would start making use of the nation’s newest international airport.
“I must tell you that am so happy and excited for this wonderful gesture of the federal government, especially coming at a time
when I’m the chairman, senate committee on Aviation, so, I give God all the glory” the legislator declared
The National Assembly committees on Aviation he assured would continue to partner with the ministry of Aviation and other
relevant agencies in the sector with a view to ensuring that the nation’s airspace was safe for air users.
Meanwhile, there had been wild jubilation in Enugu since federal government announced that the first international airline would
be touching the tarmac of Akanu Ibiam international Airport on 24th August 2013.
