Aggrieved Members Accuse Ken Nnamani Of Factionalizing Enugu APC

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The crisis rocking the Enugu state Chapter of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Thursday took a new twist, as some aggrieved members from various council areas, staged a protest over the exclusion of the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, Director General of Voice of Nigeria VON, Mr. Osita Okechukwu and other Chieftains from its meeting.

The South East meeting of the party which was convened by former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geofffery Onyeama, has worsened the crisis in the state, as they deliberately refused to invite the party’s State Caretaker Committee boss, Dr. Nwoye, and other Stalwarts such as its Governorship flag bearer in 2015, Chief Okey Ezea, major financial of the party, Emperor Baywood Ibeh amongst other leaders.

The protesters had accused the Ex-Senate President Nnamani, of sponsoring factionalization of the party.

According to them, the former Senate President who is a member of the National Caretaker Committee of APC, has done more harm than good to the party in the state since he joined the ruling party from his former Peoples Democratic party PDP.

“Aside our indefatigable State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, whom they refused to invite to the meeting, Ken Nnamani and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama convived to exclude Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu, a major financial of APC, Emperor Baywood Ibe, and Enugu state Governorship flag bearer in 2015, Chief Okey Ezea from the South East gathering of the APC” one of the protesters told Journalists.

The aggrieved party members also accused Nnamani of superimposing one Mr. Chikwado Chukwunta as Enugu State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, “whereas, the party has its legally appointed Chairman, in the person of Dr. Ben Nwoye who is recognized by the national Leadership of our party.

Our correspondent reports that the protesters had displayed placards with inscription such as, Dr. “Ben Nwoye is the only authentic State Caretaker Committee Chairman we have,”

“Ken Nnamani leave Enugu APC alone,” “Ken Nnamani 25 per cent negotiator go back to PDP,” and “Ken Nnamani, a PDP in the night, APC in the day.”

They, however, vowed to take their complaints against Nnamani to the highest authority of the party, alleging that he has done more harm to the party in Enugu state than good.
