Again, Suicide Bombers Kill 40 in Afghan’s Shia Mosque
Asia, Latest Headlines, World News Friday, October 20th, 2017(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Again, not less than 40 people Friday were killed in two separate attacks on Shia Muslim mosques in Afghanistan
According to the officials, a gunman entered the Imam Zaman mosque in the capital Kabul before opened fire and detonated an explosive, killing more over 30 worshippers.
The second attack which occurred in Afghanistan’s Ghor province reportedly killed at least 10 people.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the bloody attack; however, the so-called Islamic State (IS) has previously targeted Shia mosques across Afghanistan.
It would be recalled that about 43 Afghan soldiers Thursday were killed while nine wounded after two suicide bombers in Humvee trucks targeted a military base in the southern province of Kandahar.
An eyewitness said the scene at Kabul’s Imam Zaman mosque, in the west of the city, “looks like a front line”.
The attacker was reported to have opened fire as worshippers gathered for Friday prayers, before he detonated a bomb.
Kabul Police Spokesman Basir Mojahid has confirmed the Friday incident yet, failed to give further details.
