After Nyako’s Sack, Mass Defection Rocks Adamawa APC
Featured, Latest Headlines, Politics Friday, July 25th, 2014Less than a week to the impeachment of former Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa state, all is not well with the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the 21 local government and Council development areas Chairmen as well as the councilors of the state have cross carpeted to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
African Examiner in Yola, the state capital gathered that the Executive Chairmen have been penultimate Friday approached by the Acting Governor, Ahmadu Finitiri who was sworn in last after Nyako’s sack. It was gathered that their action was to show support for Finitiri and his administration.
Hon. Vandi Favanza who is the Chairman of Michika Local Government Area and spokesperson of other defected Chairmen during a visit, informed the Acting Governor about their resolve to leave APC and join APC as well as to support his administration.
The Governor while reacting welcome the decamped members and said he was willing to work with all stakeholders in the state in order to put it on a high pedestal.
Our Correspondent reported that Adamawa state PDP Chairman Joel Madaki, while formally receiving the new members said he was eager to accept them into the party’s fold, but they must go back to their various local government and council development areas and wards to re -validate their membership cards. They were also mandated to make public announcement on their defection.
