African Footballer Of The Year Nominee, Vincent Enyeama Hails New Winner, Toure
Latest Headlines, Sports News Friday, January 9th, 2015The Nigerian 2014 African Footballer of the year nominee and Super Eagles Skipper, Vincent Enyeama has hailed the winner of the award, the Cote d’Ivoire National team skipper, Yaya Toure.
While making the post-award speech, Enyeama, pointed out that his failure to win the coveted award did not have any link with disqualification of the Nigerian senior team from contesting the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He declared it was justifiable, the decision of the Confederation of African (CAF) to have been named Toure for the fourth, the best Football player in the African continent.
The Nigerian first Goalkeeper related that it pained him that the country would not be at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations saying he supported the CAF decision declaring Toure as the African winner. He congratulated him on the achievement.
Enyeama is the first Nigerian goalkeeper to make the top three shortlist of the award since its induction by CAF in 1992.
