Afenifere Passes No Confidence Votes On Fashola, Accuses Him Of Being Elitist
Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, May 28th, 2014The Yoruba Socio-Cultural group, Afenifere has passed a vote of no confidence on the administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola in the last seven years, describing it as being too elitist.
Spokesman of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin at a Democracy Day Colloquium organized by the Lagos state Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Nigeria also said that over four trillion naira has been spent by successive governments in Lagos State between 1999 till date.
Odumakin, who was speaking on the topic 15 years of Democracy in Lagos state, what level of dividends said it was most unfortunate that there was little on ground to show for it.
He said promises made by the ruling party in the state since return of democratic rule in 1999 have not been fulfilled despite enormous resources at government coffers.
Odumakin noted that Fashola administration has catered more for the elites at the detriments of the poor saying the ongoing Rail project is another fraud perpetrated by the state.
On his part, former Minister of Communications retired General Tajudeen Olanrewaju challenged the Lagos PDP to put her house in order and win the 2015 election in honour of late Funsho Williams, saying that if the PDP failed to win Lagos in 2015, the party should forget it.
The Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, represented by his son Gbolahan said what the state government had succeeded in doing was to deceive the residents.
