Accreditation of Delegates Underway in Lagos At APC National Convention
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Wednesday, December 10th, 2014By Ayo Balogun and Funmilayo Omidiji, Lagos – Some delegates out of the total 8,000 of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 36 States of the Federation and FCT Abuja, have started arriving the Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere Lagos, preparatory for the party third National Convention.
AFRICAN EXAMINER Correspondents reported that some of the delegates have commenced accreditation, which precedes the voting proper, hopefully to kick off later in the day after formal opening of the convention.
The convention, our Correspondents reported is likely to commence around 5.00pm after the accreditation exercise would have been completed.
The stadium’s surroundings have become beehive of activities by the hawkers and petty traders who are a field day.
Security in and out of the venue has been beefed up as delegates and other accredited personalities move in out of the State’s stadium.
Five aspirants are in today’s contest, leading the pack are the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and former Head of State, Gen (rtd) Muhammadu Buhari. Others include: Rabiu Musa kwankwaso, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Kano and Imo State Governors respectively. The fifth contestant is Mr. Sam Ndah – Issiah, publisher of the Leadership Newspapers.
Feelers from the ground are speculating likely step down by some aspirants for one of the most favored.
The Convention Organizing Chairman, Dr Kayode Fayemi had since arrived the venue and inspecting every arrangement on ground for a smooth national meeting.
