Abuja Blast: IGP Orders Heavy Security Presence at Scene, Full Investigation Commences
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Thursday, June 26th, 2014Following the bomb blast at Emab Shopping Complex in Abuja on Wednesday evening, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered heavy security presence and surveillance in and around FCT Metropolis.
IGP called on members of the public to remain vigilant and stay away from the scenes of explosion so as not to fall victim in a likely case of secondary blasts.
While speaking for the force, Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba announced that the security agencies have commenced full investigations into the bomb blast, while the Police Bomb Disposal Squad had commenced post-blast analysis as part of the general investigative process.
Mba also confirmed more than 20 people died and 17 injured in the blast. He said those injured were receiving treatments in various hospitals in Abuja metropolis.
According to Mba, the security Forces were taking measures to strengthen all soft targets and critical infrastructure in a bid to improve overall public safety.
