Abia State Govt Pulls Down Kidnapper’s House

As part of measures to rid Abia of kidnappers, the state Governor, Thodore Orji on Wednesday ordered the demolition of a bungalow building belonging to a suspected Kidnapper, one Ogbuonye Ogbonna.
The kingpin, African Examiner gathered had been involved in series of kidnapping cases in the state.
Security Adviser to Abia State Governor and Chairman, Task force, Capt. Awa Udonsi Agwu (Rtd.), who addressed newsmen shortly after the demolition exercise at Umuariaga Oboro in Ikwuano council area of the state, said the measure is to serve as deterrent to other kidnappers and those nursing the idea to enter the unholy business.
The governor’s security aide further stated that the state government abhors kidnapping and would stop at nothing to stamp the menace out of the state.
According to him, other kidnappers who have property in the state will have them pulled down once the government identifies such property, saying the process is an on-going one
However, some residents of the community who spoke newsmen, but does not want to be quoted hailed the state government for taking the bold step.
They said the people have been living in fear for a very long time, following activities of some suspected kidnappers operating in the area.
African Examiner recalled that few months ago, a hotel belonging to another kidnapper at Afaraukwu was demolished by the state government in its bid to flush out kidnappers and other criminal elements in the State.
The Security Adviser to the governor, has also warned criminals in the area to better repent of their evil actions or be ready to face the full weight of the law if nabbed, adding that there is no hiding place for criminals in the state.
