Abia Police Command Parades 23 Suspected Kidnappers
Featured, Latest Headlines, News, Nigeria 2015 Election Saturday, March 21st, 2015From Ignatius Okpara, Umuahia – A total of 23 suspects including kidnappers, child traffickers/thieves, armed robbers, among others have been arrested and paraded by the Abia State Police Command.
The state Commissioner of Police (CP) Mr Joshak Habila, while parading the suspects Friday in Umahia the State capital, said they were apprehended in different locations.
Mr. Habila disclosed that upon the arrest, a GSM Sim Card, with Number (08029744410), used in demanding and collecting N100,000 ransom from a kidnapped minor’s father, was recovered from one of the paraded suspect, identified as Uzoma Samuel Anyanwu, aged 35, who hails from Imo state.
According to the (CP), four persons namely, Sunday Bassey, Justina Udejime, Mrs Mary Akpan, (18); Ewesu Kama, (15); were nabbed following a report made by the child’s mother, Chinaza Ndubuisi to the Police on March 7, 2015.
The child, he said, has been recovered at Ihiala, in Anambra state while further investigation also led to the arrest of one Comfort Amos Orji (female), aged 18 years, who is awaiting possible prosecution.
“A team of Policemen attached to D7 Section of SCID Umuahia stormed a criminal hideout and arrested the suspect who had on him some quantities of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, the case is under investigation.” the Abia police chief added.
