ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Justice Okong Abang of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has declined in giving judgment on a stay of execution suit before him, on the earlier sack ruling he delivered on Abia State Governor, Okozie Ikpeazu.
In his ruling Friday, Justice Abang directed the plaintiff, Governor Ikpeazu and defendant, Uche Ogah to approach Court of Appeal for ruling on the matter.
It would be recalled Justice Abang ruled Monday June 20 that INEC should immediately withdraw Certificate of Return from Ikpeazu and issue another one to Ogah due to conviction former, of filling false tax papers to INEC to contest his opposition PDP Governorship primary in December 2014.
About a week later, INEC issued Certificate of Return to Ogah, resulting to a legal controversy; filling of notice of appeal as well as stay of execution suit by the sacked Governor.
Justice Abang had earlier in the week reserved judgment on the suit, hence adjourned the hearing till Friday, July 8, 2016.
