Abia State command of the Nigerian police force has hinted that the policeman who recently allegedly killed a father of two children, Mr. Ikeokwu Onyemachi, in Aba, the commercial city of the State, is currently undergoing orderly room trial.
The Commissioner in charge of the state, Habila Joshak, who made this known friday during a condolence visit to the bereaved family, assured that the policemen would be dismissed if found culpable.
AFRICAN EXAMINER recalled that the deceased was on Wednesday shot dead by a police officer, identified as Corporal Patrick Kalu, attached to the Eziama Police Division.
He sent the man to his untimely grave while attempting to seize his motorcycle at Ogbor Hill, area of Aba, because the deceased refused to give him (roger) money which he demanded.
The late,Onyemachi, a Port Harcourt-based businessman, and his friend, Okike, who hails from Abala community in Obingwa council area of the state, were on their way home after depositing the body of Okike’s father at Group Medical Practice mortuary near Azuka Police Division when he met his untimely death.
It was gathered that the killer policeman and his colleagues who were in an ash-coloured Peugeot 504 attempted to seize their motorcycle, despite several explanations by the deceased and his friend to the Police team that they just deposited the corpse of Okike’s father at the mortuary.
Angered by the refusal of the deceased to roger them, Corporal Kalu allegedly pulled his gun and shot Onyemachi on the forehead.
