The joy of a woman who gave birth to a baby bouncing boy aboard a tricycle, popularly known as “Keke Napep” in Aba, Abia state, on Friday knew no bound.
Our Correspondent gathered that the woman, who did not diclose her name was on her way to the hospital aboard a Keke NAPEP, when suddenly the head of the baby started coming out at about 1pm around Tonimas junction area in Aba.
A passerby who is also a nurse, Mrs Chika Onyedikachi, who assisted her said, the woman had gone into labour at home and thereafter boarded a tricycle to convey her to the hospital.
She hinted, “that the woman’s water broke on the way to the hospital”.
According to her, “when the keke, got to Tonimas Junction, Aba, the baby’s head began to emerge as the trip to the hospital was halted.
Onyedikachi, further said that she assisted the woman in the delivery of the baby because she happened to be passing by where the incident happened.
Also speaking, another eyewitness, who identified himself as Mr Marizu John, said it was an exciting afternoon for everyone as a similar incident took place same spot in 2013.
He said some time “last year a mad woman gave birth to a set of twins in this very place, so I have the feeling that this place is special.”
Efforts to get comment of the keke operator failed, as he ran away immediately the baby’s head started emerging.
However the good Samaritan nurse, Onyedikachi, said both the mother and child had been taken home in good condition.
