8 Killed, One Injured In Two Suicide Bomb Attacks In Borno
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Friday, July 8th, 2016BORNO, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – No fewer than six persons and two suicide bombers were killed early Friday morning in two separate terrorist attacks at a central mosque in Damboa, Borno State.
While confirming the incident in a statement, the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman, narrated that at exactly 5.15am, two Boko Haram terrorists’ suicide bombers attacked Damboa.
He indicated that the first suicide bomber targeted “Damboa Central Mosque but due to stringent security measures, he could not gain entry”.
Following the frustration, the suicide bomber exploded and died near the Central mosque.
He added that, the second bomber veered off and gained entry into another smaller mosque and detonated the bomb, killing himself and six other worshippers, as well as injured one other person.
Army also confirmed that the wounded have since been evacuated to a hospital while efforts were on to clear the rubbles. Also, Col. Usman stated that troops and other security agencies have been mobilized to the area.
In a related development, the Army said suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists in a survival bid, attacked Gaskeri village ahead of Dalori Thursday evening.
The offensive it was confirmed consumed three civilian vigilantes, while the terrorists looted foodstuffs.
In the meantime, Col. Usman informed that troops have been mobilized and they are on the suspected terrorists’ trail.
