5 Persons Die In Church Building Collapse In Enugu Community
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Monday, April 13th, 2015From Ignatius Okpara, Enugu – No fewer than five persons lost their lives in a church building collapse at Oduma, in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu state on Saturday.
The disaster occurred about 6pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church Oduma.
African Examiner gathered that the parish priest of the church Rev. Fr. Nonso Eze, was conducting church programme rehearsals with some members when suddenly a section of the church alter collapsed killing about five persons and leaving one person with ankle fracture.
The state police public Relations officer, PPRO, Ebere Amarizu, who confirmed the incident, said full-scale investigations have commenced into the incident.
Meanwhile, the remains of the victims have been deposited at Jideofor Hospital Mortuary Awgu for necessary action.
However, sympathisers who gathered at the scene to see things for themselves described the ugly incident as unfortunate.
