3,000 Delegates Set To Elect Lagos APC Governorship Candidate
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014Over 3,000 delegates are expected to vote at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos governorship primaries, which hold at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos, Nigeria on Thursday.
A statement issued by the Lagos APC and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe said the leadership of the party had agreed that the primaries should hold at the Onikan Stadium tomorrow.
The statement reads: “The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Chapter would like to inform our teeming supporters, all stakeholders and delegates that our Governorship primaries comes up tomorrow at Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
“Ordinarily, the Governorship Primaries is supposed to be held at the Party’s Headquarters going by the Party’s guidelines but Lagos Chapter applied to the National Secretariat for a change of venue just for convenience sake.
“In granting the waiver, the National Secretariat in a letter dated December 1, 2014 wrote inter-alia:”We refer to your letter dated 28th November 2014 in respect of the above mentioned subject and wish to convey approval for the use of Onikan Stadium as the venue of the Governorship primaries”
The statement added that as a consequence of this, the leadership of the party wished to informed delegates that accreditation starts by 9.00 am while voting proper kicks off by 12 noon, saying that over 3,000 delegates are expected at the venue for the exercise.
“All logistics have been put in please, including adequate security and traffic management for a hitch free exercise,” he said.
