30 Killed in Suicide Bomb Attack In Adamawa

ADAMAWA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – No fewer than 30 people were killed Tuesday morning during a suicide bomb attack allegedly by a teenager inside a mosque in Mubi, Adamawa State, North East Nigeria.
While confirming the sad incident, the State Police Command through its Spokesman, Mr. Othman Abubakar disclosed that the attack occurred around 5:20am – after the Morning Prayer, at Kunu Araha, a suburb of Mubi.
The Police claimed that the explosive was by a yet to be identified teenage boy.
Abubakar said: “We were made to understand that there was a bomb blast at a mosque in Mubi and over 30 lives were lost. A boy about 17-year-old wearing a suicide vest entered the mosque along with other worshippers. Immediately after the prayers, he detonated the bomb. Many of the wounded are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Mubi North where the attacks occurred around Kunu Araha area”.
The Police image maker also confirmed that many who were wounded in the attack were currently receiving medical attention at various medical hospitals in Mubi Town.
Still, the security’s account was different from the figure quoted by emergency aid workers and other Samaritans. The death toll according to them was put at 40.
An official of the International Rescue Committee, identified, claimed that about 40 dead bodies were evacuated at the scene of the attack. The figure is beside another version claiming that the figure of those killed was not less than 50.
