Bamanga Tukur threatens to axe members backing New PDP
Abuja, News Friday, September 6th, 2013The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) says it will declare vacant seats of elected persons that identify with the faction led by former vice president Atiku Abubakar and Alh Kawu Baraje.
The national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur who read the riot act on Friday at a news conference in Abuja said the party will not fold its arms and watch some undemocratic and unpatriotic elements destroy its common destiny by causing confusion.
While urging security agencies to arrest any impostor that parades himself as the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), Alhaji Tukur maintained that adequate measure will be made to ensure that anyone who is not duly elected into a leadership position but assigned himself any role shall be made to face the full wrath of the law.
He however noted that the party shall not leave any stone unturned in getting to the root of the crisis as well as adopting mechanism for internal conflict resolution.
“We shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that persons and indeed, any other individuals who attempt to subvert the leadership of the PDP shall reap in full, the consequences of such actions.
“I wish to emphasise that the PDP has adequate mechanism for internal conflict resolution. All party members are therefore advised to ventilate their grievances through this medium.” Tukur declared
Recall that about 52 members of the House of Representatives and 22 senators, and still counting, elected under the platform of PDP have pledged their support for the Alhaji Baraje-led
faction of the party.
