BREAKING News: Buhari Dissolves NNPC Board
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Friday, June 26th, 2015President Muhammadu Buhari has announced immediate dissolution of the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
This announcement was made Friday in a letter signed by the Head of Civil Service (HOS) of the Federation, Mr. Danladi Kifasi.
The corporation is a government agency that regulates the lucrative oil and gas sector, and also represent the Nigerian government in deals with multinationals and international oil agencies.
The dissolved board comprises of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezini Alison-Madueke as the Chairman; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance and the Group Managing Director (GMD), Dr. Joseph Thlama Dawha NNPC as members.
Also on the former board were Alhaji Abdullahi Bukar; a former Head of Service of the Federation, Mr. Steven Oronsaye; Prof. Olusegun Okunnu; Mr. Daniel Wadzani; Mr. Bernard Otti (Group Executive Director, Finance and Accounts) and Dr. Peter Nmadu (Group Executive Director, Corporate Services).
Recall that President Buhari had recently expressed dissatisfaction with many alleged sharp practices by both career officers and political appointees whose activities affect the operations and functionality of the corporation.
