2015: I am still in the race — Atiku
Featured, Latest Headlines, News, Politics Sunday, June 15th, 2014Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has re-emphasized his interest to run for the most exalted position in the country after declaring that he is still in the race for the primary election to elect the flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Atiku, a former presidential aspirant on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP said in a statement from his media office, accused the presidency of sponsoring false reports that he had been zoned out of the presidential contest.
He said that president Goodluck Jonathan was scared of him being his mainopponent in 20115 on the platform of APC, adding that the report was to frustrate him from offering his services to Nigerians.
“ At no time did the party’s Convention Planning Committee or its recently-dissolved Interim National Executive Council, NEC, discuss the issue of zoning of elective offices outside the positions of leadership of the party which were filled at the highly successful convention held on Friday. Atiku said.
”As for the presidential ticket, the position of all organs of the party is that it is open to all Nigerians irrespective of where they come from.” He added
