2015: Health Minister, Chukwu, Emerges PDP Ebonyi Guber Consensus Candidate

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in Old Abakaliki political bloc has endorsed the Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu as its consensus candidate for the 2015 governorship election in Ebonyi State.
Professor Chukwu was picked in a meeting on Tuesday which was attended by both serving and former political office holders, as well as major stakeholders in the old Abakaliki political bloc. It was presided over by the incumbent Governor Martin Elechi.
According to the stakeholders, the resolutions was reached at the meeting based on a comprehensive analysis of the political situation and careful consideration of the factors of succession, transition and power rotation, peace, equity, fairness and good conscience.
The political bloc therefore appealed to all the aspirants in the zone with similar ambition to shelve it for the collective interest of the state in line with what was agreed upon.
The stakeholders equally resolved that all Abakaliki people should support the power shift arrangement for the interest of peace and mutual existence of the various sections of the state. The bloc emphasized the choice of Chukwu was taking in good faith and should be supported by all Ebonyians.
In the view of the latest development, people of the the bloc have requested the Minister to make himself available and declare for the race.
