The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in its bid to protect electoral officials during 2015 general elections has promised to engage the services of Nigerian Air Force, Navy and other security agencies.
The Taraba INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Austin Okojie made this known Sunday at NYSC Orientation Camp in Jalingo while addressing Batch B corps members on their roles during elections.
He said “The Commission is making arrangements with the Nigerian Air Force, Navy and other security agents to ensure safety of lives and property during the 2015 general elections.
“We expect Nigerians to understand that the engagement of security agents to maintain law and order is to enable us to conduct free, fair and acceptable elections.”
Okojie urged Corps members to see their participation in general elections as call to national service and not to compromise the electoral exercise.
The REC added that the commission would continue to engage NYSC members as ADHOC staff for elections to ensure credibility of the process.
