Aggrieved members of the Ebonyi state Peoples Democratic party (PDP) who are not happy with the manner the outgoing state Governor, Martin Elechi and few self acclaimed king makers in the state allegedly imposed ex- Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu as the party’s governorship consensus candidate, have vowed to work against the the ruling PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
To this end, the members who are now operating as a factional caucus of the party in the state, have told President Jonathan and the PDP to forget the State in the 2015 Presidential election.
In a press statement issued in Abuja and Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital Thursday, the faction vowed to frustrate the PDP and work for the opposition parties in the forth coming general polls in the state
According to the faction, the way and manner Governor Elechi was imposing aspirants on the party in the state was capable of making people voting against Jonathan.
The state PDP factional Chairman, Chief Mike Awo and members of his executive had claimed that since 2007 till date, party caucus as provided for, in the PDP constitution has never been held in the state.
“During the last state congress, many of us showed interest to contest for party’s positions, but were not even allowed to obtain the nomination forms, let alone pursuing our desire to contest the election.
“It may interest you to know that the party in Ebonyi State has…compromised. The former state Chairman was intimidated to resign so as to allow a stooge who will be doing the governor,s bidding.
“From the foregoing, it is now very obvious that if there is no intervention, PDP will die a natural death in that state and the President stands the risk of losing election in Ebonyi State” Awo opened up.
He also alleged “the way and manner the governor went about it in the state smirks of hate and political delinquency.”
