20- Year- Old Man in Lagos Arraigned for N400,000 Theft
Lagos Thursday, October 24th, 2013A 20- year- old man and only child of his parents, Emanuel Okupe, was arraigned Wednesday before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, over alleged burglary and stealing of the sum of N400,000.
Emanuel, a barber and resides at Esa Iba Town area of Lagos, was brought before Magistrate Miss Akinde. He faces a two-count chargeon burglary and stealing.
According to the police prosecutor Inspector Chinalo Uwadione, thesuspect and others now at large committed the alleged offence onSeptember 10, 2013, at about 10:30pm at 3, Nzekwe’s compound off Suara street in Iba area of Lagos.
He told the court that Okupe broke into the house of one Nzekwe Cyriacus and stole one laptop, Jewelries valued N200,000, hometheatre valued N30,000 and two cell phones valued at N20,000 all belonging to the victim.
The offence committed is contrary to section 409 and punishable under section (a) (b) of the criminal law of Lagos state of Nigeria 2011.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges when the charge was read to him.
Magistrate Akinde granted him bail in the sum of N50,000, with onesurety in like sum and adjourned the matter to December 9, 2013
