2 Die, 3 Injured As SUV, Bus Plunge Into Canal In Lagos

Tragedy struck in Lagos on Saturday night as two people were confirmed dead when a Pathfinder SUV collided with a staff bus, as the two vehicles plunged into a canal at Pleasure, Near Iyana Ipaja area of the state.
The Pathfinder SUV has the registration number FKJ 516 AL. It was said to have had a burst tyre and collided with the staff bus around Pleasure Bus Stop inward Abule Egba around 10.00 pm on Saturday.
Two occupants in the SUV died as a result of the impact of the collision while three other people were reportedly injured.
African Examiner learnt that the Pathfinder vehicle was in top speed when the fatal accident occurred. It ramped into the staff bus in front of it and pushed it into the canal and going in with the bus.
General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed that two occupants of the SUV had died during the accident, as officials of the agency were very prompt in getting to the scene.
“At about 10 pm Saturday night, a Pathfinder Jeep with registration number FKJ 516 AL collided with a bus at Pleasure bus stop inward Abule Egba and fell into the canal,” he said.
He added that the dead bodies of the two victims were handed over to the Police at Elere Police Station and were later taken to the mortuary.
“We were very prompt to the scene when the accident occurred and we were able to recover the dead bodies and handed them over to the police,” he stated.
Last week, a father and daughter had died when their Four Runner Toyota SUV plunged into a river from a bridge around Lekki area of Lagos as they were coming from a Celestial Church in the area around 1.00 am.
