12 killed, 5 Injured in Early Morning Attack in Plateau

The killings in the hinterlands of Plateau Northern Senatorial District continued as 12 people were killed on Wednesday in an early morning attack.
African Examiner gathered that four officers of Special Task Force (STF) responsible for the maintenance of peace in the State were among the victims. Villages touched by the unknown gunmen included Gako and Tanjol in Riyom local government area of the State.
Our correspondent learnt that the security operatives were killed while trying to resist the attack.
The source added that the attackers came in the early hours of the morning, shooting sporadically which later resulted to the causality, while farm produce and properties were destroyed.
Confirming the incident, state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Dominic Esin, said six people were killed and five others were injured and were receiving treatment in the hospital. “The attackers came around 1am in the morning today” (Wednesday). Esin confirmed.
However, he said the state police command was not aware about the killing of any of its officer. Said: “Investigation is ongoing and manhunts for the felons have been intensified.
Esin added that, normalcy has returned to the affected areas, urging the public to go about their lawful business and report any unscrupulous elements to the security agencies.
