10 Burnt To Death In Enugu Auto Crash

At least 10 people reportedly burnt to death in a fatal auto crash along the Obollo-Afor- 9th Mile Express Way in Enugu State.
Our Correspondent gathered that the accident involved a bus belonging to a popular transport company – Peace Mass Transit in the area.
An eye witnessed told African Examiner that other road users watched helplessly while the wild fire trapped the victims inside the burnt vehicles.
According to him, “There was nothing we could do but cry because the fire was indeed so much” adding “it was difficult to quench it”.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident Tuesday, the Enugu state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the accident and explained it “involved a mass transit vehicle with registration number AKL 323 XA coming from Enugu, with another bus with registration Number NNE 605 XA coming from Markurdi axis.
“It claimed no fewer than 10 lives, the vehicles had a head-on-collision around Opi/Eha-Alumona-Obollo-Afor Road, which caused explosion and the vehicles were engulfed by fire” narrated the state’s Police Spokesperson.
The PPRO disclosed that identities of the victims were yet to be ascertained.
