AFRICAN Boxing Union cruiserweight champion Thabiso \u2018\u2018The Rock” Mchunu will return to action against Garrett \u2018\u2018The Ultimate Warrior” Wilson in Atlantic City, New Jersey, US promoter Kathy Duva has announced.<\/p>\n
Duva, the CE of successful leading boxing firm Main Events, said the nontitle 10-rounder between Mchunu and Wilson will take place at the Resort International Hotel Casino on January 14.<\/p>\n
She said the fight would be a co-feature to the battle between Curtis \u2018\u2018Showtime” Stevens and Patrick \u2018\u2018The Machine” Majewski. Duva said her tournament would be telecast on NBC Sports Network Fight Night.<\/p>\n
The bout will be Mchunu\u2019s second under Duva\u2019s company and his second appearance on the NBC Sports Network.<\/p>\n
Duva has a three-year promotional contract with the 25-year-old left-hander from KwaXimba, in Cato Ridge, near Maritzburg.<\/p>\n
Mchunu actually made his debut under Duva\u2019s company on August 3 when he outboxed \u2018\u2018Fast” Eddie Chambers at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. It was after that unforeseen victory against the vastly experienced former heavyweight US top contender that Duva signed up Mchunu.<\/p>\n
Duva said the 31-year-old Wilson \u2014 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania \u2014 won many fans last month when he stepped up to the heavyweight division on three days\u2019 notice to give undefeated prospect Czar Glazkov a load of trouble in their 10-rounder at Turning Stone Resort and Casino in New York. But Wilson lost that bout on points.<\/p>\n
