One moment of magic that resulted in a goal in his first training session as a Manchester United player was all Radamel Falcao needed to let Louis van Gaal know that he has not wasted money in bringing him to the Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
Van Gaal made this known during a press conference to unveil the 28-year-old striker.<\/p>\n
\u2018At training he got one ball and it was in the goal. He confirmed it in his first training session with me. But when I say that, I put too much pressure on him and that\u2019s not good.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018When you can hire or buy a player like Falcao then I don\u2019t have doubts because he is, for me, one of the best strikers in the world. When you see his record it is unbelievable,\u2019<\/p>\n
United have spent \u00a36million to \u2018hire\u2019 Falcao from Monaco this season, during which time the striker will earn \u00a3280,000 a week at Old Trafford. It will cost them another \u00a346m to exercise an option to buy him outright next summer.<\/p>\n
Angel di Maria, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind also came through the door as part of a \u00a3150m summer spending spree.<\/p>\n
This has inevitably led to questions about United\u2019s transfer policy under Van Gaal and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.<\/p>\n
That is unlikely to faze Falcao. After all, this is the fourth time he has moved clubs in the last five years.<\/p>\n
This time last year he was being paraded as Monaco\u2019s record \u00a348m signing.<\/p>\n
Falcao, who is expected to make his Manchester United debut on Sunday has made six appearances and scored two goals for club and country since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee playing for Monaco in a French Cup tie in January, has yet to complete a full game.<\/p>\n
Questions have been raised about how Van Gaal can fit all his new signings into the same team alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Juan Mata, who has only been at United eight months since a \u00a337.1m move from Chelsea.<\/p>\n
There could be up to four of them making home debuts against QPR on Sunday.<\/p>\n
