Louis van Gaal says he is not surprised at Manchester United\u2019s \u00a0Capital One Cup \u00a0embarrassing 4-0 defeat by third-tier MK Dons on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
He points to a lengthy injury list and the quick turnaround from Sunday’s match then reminds fans he can’t build a team in just a few weeks<\/p>\n
The Netherlands World Cup coach however,\u00a0 urged United fans to keep faith with him – despite the humiliation by MK Dons.<\/p>\n
The League One side subjected visitors United to one of the most embarrassing nights in their history by dumping them out of the competition before the clubs involved in Europe have even entered the fray.<\/p>\n
But Van Gaal said he was not surprised the Old Trafford giants lost the match and insisted once again, as he had during pre-season when claiming it could be MONTHS before the penny drops for the players, that he needed more time to resolve the crisis-hit club\u2019s fortunes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had nine injuries and played again within 48 hours of Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to Sunderland. So I had to look at the second team and youth players for this match.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very difficult when you start as a manager in the Premier League with a home match loss, then a draw and you lose in a cup match.<\/p>\n
