Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has signed a\u00a03.5m\u00a0year-deal at QPR.<\/p>\n
Ferdinand, 35, was released by the Red Devils in July after 12 years at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
In his first interview as a QPR player Ferdinand expressed his joy at finally signing a deal with the Hoops, and insisted that he hadn’t joined the west-London side for a lucrative pay-day.<\/p>\n
He said: “I used to sit in the Loft \u2013 my Dad used to bring me here as a young boy. QPR was the first professional club to ever sign me.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are great memories for me here \u2013 for my family.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnton had nothing but good things to say about QPR and I watched Les here as a boy, with the likes of Ray Wilkins, Clive Wilson, David Bardsley and Alan McDonald.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a lot of offers from all over the world \u2013 some in places with a better climate than here. But the draw for me was to play in the Premier League and back here where it all started.<\/p>\n
\u201cI still feel I\u2019ve got something to offer and I\u2019m excited about helping this club cement its place in the Premier League\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferdinand’s move to Loftus Road sees him link up with former boss Harry Redknapp, who managed the ex-England international during his at West Ham.<\/p>\n
