{"id":4454,"date":"2014-07-14T14:56:27","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T14:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/africanexaminer.com\/sports\/?p=4454"},"modified":"2014-07-14T14:56:27","modified_gmt":"2014-07-14T14:56:27","slug":"man-u-and-adidas-agree-750m-world-sponsorship-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/africanexaminer.com\/sports\/football\/man-u-and-adidas-agree-750m-world-sponsorship-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Man U and Adidas Agree \u00a3750m World Sponsorship Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Manchester United have agreed a mammoth \u00a3750million sponsorship deal with adidas.<\/p>\n<p>The German sportswear giant has stepped in after Nike pulled out of negotiations over a new deal last week because it felt United were demanding too much money.<\/p>\n<p>The adidas agreement, described in a statement as &#8220;a global technical sponsorship and dual branded licensing deal&#8221;, will run for 10 years from the 2015-16 season.<\/p>\n<p>The deal with Nike, United&#8217;s kit manufacturer since 2002, runs out at the end of the forthcoming season.<\/p>\n<p>United believe it is the biggest kit deal in sport, surpassing the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid as well as major American sports, which tend to sign league-wide deals covering all teams.<\/p>\n<p>The deal is more than twice as big as the Nike agreement signed in 2002, which was worth \u00a3303million with extra income from a profit share agreement from merchandise sold worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>This season also sees the beginning of US car giant Chevrolet&#8217;s kit sponsorship deal with United, which is worth a reported \u00a353million per season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manchester United have agreed a mammoth \u00a3750million sponsorship deal with adidas.
